Creative Industries

Scientific project

Manager : François Durrieu

With the gradual arrival of a society of knowledge based on the economics of understanding, the creative industries have now become a real source of competitive advantage.

They have a common denominator : creativity and aesthetic attributes are decisive elements in differentiating their products and services and their way of creating value.

They include not only all the artistic and cultural sectors that put artistic creativity at the heart of their production, like the visual arts and national heritage, live shows, cultural industries (music, cinema, photography, video games, etc.), but also industries that integrate this artistic creativity to some degree into their production, like architecture, design, digital technology, fashion, luxury goods, gastronomy, wines and spirits, jewelry and also gold and silver ware.

The Creative Industries pole focuses specifically on three directions of research:

  • Axis 1 - The arts and culture, represented by creative archetypal industries
  • Axis 2 - Wines and spirits, represented by a creative “taste” industry
  • Axis 3 - Creative industries in general : other taste industries (cookery, luxury items), tourism, design, clock and watch-making, etc.

These three research areas are covered by three teams who collaborate on our specific areas of research: teams from the Arts, Culture and Management in Europe chair and the Wine Management chair, and the team representing the department in general.
